GM Ian Nepomniachtchi RUS(2695), still at the top of the helm with a live rating of 2695 and needing only +5 Elo to barge into the elite 2700 hyper-GMs.
GM Fabiano Caruana ITA(2675), made a big leap with a total gain of +19.8 Elo, making him the second top Elo gainer. This he accomplished from his exploits at CIS - Serie Master, Italy where he gained +10.1 Elo and at the just concluded Mitropa Cup in Switzerland where he gained +9.7 Elo by leading Team Italy winning the Cup playing board 1 and also as Top individual performer scoring 6.5/8. GM Caruana now has a live rating of 2694.8, just 0.2 behind GM Nepomniachtchi.

GM Le, Quang Liem VIE (2687), previously the runner-up, loss -6.1 Elo at the 9th Asian Continental Men's Chess Championship bringing his live rating down at 2680.9 and placed third in the race towards 2700.
GM Wesley So PHI (2665), came in third as top Elo gainer with a total of +9.0 Elo in two tournaments. First, at the 9th Asian Continental Men's Chess Championship where he gained +4.1 Elo by finishing second place overall and secondly, an additional +4.9 Elo at the just concluded 3rd Battle of Grandmasters (BOGM), Philippines where he won his third consecutive BOGM title. With these results GM So now has a live rating of 2674 to place fourth in the race.
GM Anish Giri NED (2642), is the top Elo gainer with a +23.9 Elo from his feat in three tournaments namely Top 16 –Phase 2, France where he gained +7.4, then at the Max Euwe Matches - Netherlands where he also had gained +2.4 and thirdly +14.1 at the Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament 2010 – Sweden where he performed a sterling 2936 performance placing first and scoring 4.5/5 in a six players round-robin tournament. Giri’s live rating now is 2665.9 to place fifth in the race.
Also in the race placing 6th to 10th places are GMs Dmitry Andreikin RUS, Parimarjan Negi IND, Ngoc Truong Son Nguyen VIE, Yuriy Kuzubov UKR and David W L Howell ENG.

The World’s Top 3 Juniors GMs Magnus Carlsen NOR(2813), Sergey Karjakin RUS(2739) & Maxime Vachier-Lagrave FRA(2710) were not included in the computations since they are already in the Hyper-GM Status (2700+).
